Nicotine Smokers

LIFE HEALTH

This article is related from in your health and these nicotine smokers at this moment I mean smoking time is not mind in personal health, but after long time this nicotine is effected on health.

“We looked at papers that took people who said, ‘I don’t want to stop smoking, but I am prepared to reduce my smoking,’ ” said lead researcher Dr. Paul Aveyard, “and twice as many in the active treatment groups quit smoking compared with the placebo side,” he said.

“It potentially opens the door to treat almost all smokers with treatments that were formally reserved for people who are wanting to quit right now,” he said.

“In Britain, they are a little bit ahead of us,” Edelman said. “Right now, the FDA approval for nicotine replacement therapy is as an aid to cessation. The next issue is whether we should use nicotine therapy to reduce smoking without worrying about whether people quit or not.”

“not adopted the idea of using nicotine replacement therapy for risk reduction,” Edelman said.

“It’s a hot potato topic,” Edelman said. “Cigarette companies are manufacturing nicotine delivery devices of all kinds, and there is a tendency to be negative about that. Nobody feels kindly disposed to letting tobacco companies make nicotine delivery devices.

Women's health in rural areas targeted

ose to 70 percent of women who died in childbirth and infants who died one year or younger did so in remote and poor rural areas, Health Minister Chen Zhu said over the weekend.

The maternity and infant deaths, said to be highly avoidable with proper medical care, occurred despite great progress made to boost the national life expectancy of women from 35 to 74 years, Chen said at a meeting on women's health.

The widening rural-urban, rich-poor gap and healthcare services for women were pressing medical issues for the government to address, Chen said.

In 2006, maternity deaths in the countryside were nearly twice that in cities, with the disparity even bigger between the remote and eastern areas, health ministry statistics showed.

The rate of such deaths was an important indicator of a country's development in general and should not be "totally decided by varied economic status", the health minister said.

All women in China enjoy the same right to healthcare services, vice-minister of health Liu Qian said.

"It's the government's responsibility to provide such services and ensure equitable access for all women in need," Liu said.

The ministry is now framing an action plan dedicated to enhancing Chinese women's health, amid a slew of health initiatives packaged as "Healthy China 2020", the vice-minister said.

In two years, a system to deliver basic healthcare services to women in both urban and rural areas will be set up, he said.

And by 2015, healthcare services will be enhanced to have all women give birth in hospitals, with a continuous drop in maternity and infant deaths targeted.

"The health of women in China will take the lead among all developing countries," Liu said.

"China is now on the right track to achieve that," Dr Hans Troedsson, World Health Organization Representative in China, said.

The issue of women's health in the country goes far beyond childbearing these days, he said.

"Apart from the risks and dangers facing them during pregnancy and delivery, they are also at risk of a wide range of medical conditions, including reproductive tract infections, sexually transmitted diseases and breast cancer," he said.

The medical problems plaguing the country's colossal female migrant worker population are even greater, Liu said, with many shunning timely treatment for fear of high medical fees in the cities where they work.

The health of women today is the health of the country tomorrow, Chen said, calling for more public awareness of the issue.

He added that the government is considering providing basic free healthcare services for women living in poverty and strengthening the medical assistance system.

Health News: CPR Survival Rates

cpr-survival-rates Health News: CPR Survival Rates

Despite pains to fine-tune process for cardiopulmonary revival and the endurance time for older citizens known CPR has not altered much in current decades and this is a latest investigate has found.

“Although significant efforts have been made to improve CPR, we found … no significant change in survival,” said Dr. William Ehlenbach.
“People are living longer with chronic disease,” Ehlenbach said. “And, in people 65 and older, it’s more common to have multiple, serious chronic illnesses that are less survivable than an acute illness.”

“CPR has the highest likelihood of success when the heart is the reason, as in an ongoing heart attack or a heart rhythm disturbance,” he explained. “If you’re otherwise doing well, CPR will often be successful. But, if you’re in the ICU [intensive care unit] with a serious infection and multiple organ failure, it’s unlikely that CPR will save you.”

“People are very commonly surprised at the likelihood of survival after CPR,” Ehlenbach said. “Doctors and other health-care providers need to have discussions about end-of-life care and the role of CPR in end-of-life care. This study highlights the need for improved education and communication about end-of-life care.”
“In this study, blacks are requesting almost twice the rate of CPR,” Brauner said. “They don’t want ‘do not resuscitate’ orders.”
“The reasons for this are probably multifold,” he said. “Some may not have had access to health care in the past, and now that they do, they want to make use of all of the technologies. The other part of it is a trust issue. You really have to be able to trust your physician”.

“Sometimes it’s in your best interest to forego CPR,” Brauner said. “There is a burden that comes with getting these therapies. And, if you’re at the end stage of a chronic illness, CPR isn’t going to change that

Stroke is one of those diseases that do not give notice and pounce and causing much injure to temporary or permanent in any case the damage caused by a stroke can be substantial and that is why we must be practical with avoidance and treatment right. Today we see a new molecule exposed in the laboratory that serves to defeat the stroke. The molecule in question is called titillate and was presented at the European assembly of Cardiology (ESC) being held in Barcelona. This drug completely revolutionizes therapy for heart patients and is the result of a very wide research that has involved 18,113 patients in 44 countries counting Italy. This molecule has proved very effective really reduced the cases of stroke by 34% and risk of death by 12%.

How to Eat Healthy And Improve Your Nutrition

Friday, September 18, 2009

The first step you can take to eat healthy and improve your nutrition is to read the back of packaging when you buy food. The front of the packaging is intended to grab your attention and make you want to buy the product. The back of the packaging is where the real information about the product is found. You want to have the least amount of ingredients possible when you buy food. The more ingredients that are in your food, the more artificial substances were added to your food. Also, be wary of food products that have lists of ingredients that you can not pronounce. These are usually artificial man made ingredients that have been added to your food and are not what you want to be eating. Choose foods that only have a few ingredients and avoid foods with lists of ingredients that you can not pronounce.

Healthy Eating

There is no such thing as good or bad food - you don’t have to give up all your favourites to be healthy! Eating a balanced diet and taking part in regular exercise is the best way to stay healthy.

Different types of food give us different amounts and types of nutrients that we need to be healthy, which is why it is important to eat a range of food. Eating fruit and vegetables with your meals or as snacks will help you to stay healthy. You will be less likely to get heart disease and some cancers. We should all try to eat at least five portions of fruit and vegetables each day.

  • Eat often: Fruit, vegetables and starchy foods (such as bread, rice, pasta and cereals) and some meat, fish, dairy foods and/or beans and pulses.
  • Eat rarely: Chocolate, sweets, crisps, biscuits, takeaway food (such as burger and chips) and sugary drinks (such as cola) all have a lot of fat and/or sugar
The food we eat gives us the energy our bodies need. The amount of energy in food is worked out by counting how many calories it has. Your body either burns the calories you eat through physical activity (taking part in team sports, walking, swimming, cycling, dancing), or it stores those calories as fat to be used later

Healthy eating improves appetite for learning

BETTER behaviour and enhanced concentration - just two of the improvements a Basingstoke headteacher has attributed to her pupils eating healthy school meals.

Gwen Clifford, headteacher of Chineham Park Primary School, has said that since the school adopted a programme of healthier school meals and health education, a marked difference in pupil attainment has been noticed.

Teens Who Skip Breakfast Gain Weight

You’ve probably heard it many times, maybe from your mom, “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.” Well, mom was right and there’s scientific evidence to back her up. Unfortunately, breakfast-eating frequency declines through adolescence when developing bodies and minds really need the benefits of healthy eating.

Teens should know that besides causing them to miss out on important nutrients, skipping breakfast can lead to getting fat. Project EAT (Eating Among Teens) was a 5-year study of eating patterns and weight concerns among adolescents conducted by the Division of Epidemiology and Community Health at the University of Minnesota. The scientists performing the study found that adolescents who ate breakfast daily had lower Body Mass Indexes than those who never or occasionally ate breakfast. Their findings were published in Pediatrics, the official journal of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Farm to School Programs Make a Healthy Difference

Thanks to Farm to School programs across the nation, kids are learning what foodies have known all along; fresh fruits are sweeter and more flavorful than produce shipped from many miles away. Fresher also means more nutritious. Buying fresh supports local farmers and their families, and helps preserve the community’s farmland for future generations.

The Farm to School programs connect schools with local farms to ensure that healthy meals are served in school cafeterias. The goal is to provide health and nutrition education that will last a lifetime, while building lasting support for local small farmers.

The National Farm to School Program is a collaboration of the Center for Food & Justice and the Community Food Security Coalition. Since its founding in 2000, it has been successfully assisting organizations in starting up and sustaining farm to school efforts, fundraising, and providing informational resources, education and training for farm to school stakeholders.

Seared Free-Range Duck Breasts with Draft Apple Cider Reduction

Not long ago we attended a cooking class called, “The Food Shed: Cooking Local and Seasonal” at Manhattan’s Institute of Culinary Education. It turned out to be a terrific evening of learning about cooking with fresh ingredients from local farms.

The class was presented by Chef-Instructor Melanie Underwood. She’s been an enthusiast for cooking with farm fresh ingredients since her days growing up on a farm in Virginia. As a chef, she’s demonstrated her talent at the Plaza Hotel and the Four Seasons Hotel and been sharing her expertise with I.C.E.’s students since 1996. She also offers private cooking classes.

One local ingredient Chef Melanie selected for the class was the meaty breasts of the free-range ducks of Jurgielewicz Farm on Long Island. Her recipe called for searing the breasts in a pan, cooking away much of the fat while leaving the meat deliciously rare, tender and juicy. We loved the resulting flavor and texture. When ready, the seared breasts can be served with a time-honored sauce such as cherry or orange, but the recipe below calls for serving an apple cider reduction. We highly recommend you get your apple cider fresh from a farm stand or farmers market.

Pesticides Lead to Parkinson Disease

By our count there have now been at least 6 studies establishing a link between pesticides and Parkinson disease. We just read about the latest study from an article published by BBC News. Scientists from Duke University, Miami University and the Udall Parkinson's Disease Research Center of Excellence “found those exposed to pesticides had a 1.6 times higher risk” of suffering from the debilitating disease.

Providing American families with the option of enjoying food raised without pesticides has been one the great achievements of the organic farmers movement. The great demand for organic foods by consumers is a wonderfully promising trend for the American food system. Along with quests for more flavor and better nutritional value, the desire to avoid pesticides has been a key driver of the demand for organics.

California's Best Wines Make Big Gains with America's Wine Lovers

Sales of California wines in the U.S. rose 6% to a retail value of $18.9 billion in 2007, according to the Wine Institute. The industry group says the impressive growth was fueled by strong gains by premium California wines. The Wine Institute puts the retail value of worldwide sales of California wines at $30 billion.

The U.S. wine market continues to be dominated by Merlot, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon, which together account for 45% of total wine sales. Sales of Merlot are more than double those of Pinot Noir, the next best-selling red wine. Domestic premium-priced Merlot is displaying particular strength, and now constitutes 17% of the domestic premium red wine market.

A Daily Cup of Coffee to Prevent Alzheimer's Disease

That cup of coffee you crave each morning may be good for more than helping you get started on the day's tasks, it may be protecting you from Alzheimer's disease as well.

A study published in the Journal of Neuroinflammation has found that caffeine can prevent the disruptions of the blood brain barrier (BBB) inflicted by bad cholesterol in the diet. Disruptions of the BBB have been implicated as underlying mechanisms in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease. The researchers found that chronic ingestion of caffeine offered protection against the disruptions. A daily cup of coffee is presumed to provide the healthful benefit.

As coffee lovers, this revelation comes under the heading of “Health News We Like to Hear.” Other news we really enjoyed hearing was that a glass or two of red wine everyday is good for cardiovascular health, eating dark chocolate will also help keep the heart healthy, and three midday naps a week can lead to less heart disease.

New Orleans is a Sandwich Lover's Dream

Being a journalist can be tough. Key people can be reluctant to provide information and answer questions. Those fingered by the media as miscreants can become hostile and even violent.

But there are rewards, and not just Pulitzer Prizes. Sometimes the getting of the story is a reward in itself, an experience many of us would relish. Recently, Mary Ellen Botter, the travel editor for the Dallas Morning News, covered just such a story. Displaying a determination to pursue the facts that would credit any reporter, Ms. Botter sampled sandwiches at 19 shops and restaurants recommended by locals in New Orleans. And she did it in 49 hours! Among the intrepid reporter's favorite finds was the Muffuletta served at Serio's Po-Boys & Deli at 133 St. Charles Avenue.

Leafy Greens Could Reduce Prostate Cancer Risk by 35%

The fanfare that accompanies each November’s release of Beaujolais Nouveau makes it easy to forget that the venerable French wine region produces more than a dozen wines capable of pleasing a variety of tastes.

Considering that the Beaujolais region’s viticulture dates to the Roman Empire, it’s no surprise the local vintners have gained enviable expertise. Some of the vines have been carefuly tended and growing in the schist and granite-based soils for centuries. The result is wine as unique and representative of its terroir as any in the world.

We recently attended a tasting of Beaujolais wines of 2007 at the Gordon Ramsey Restaurant n New York’s London Hotel. Georges Duboeuf, the Frenchman largely responsible for bringing that region’s appellations to the attention of wine lovers around the world, joined us to offer his thoughts. Now in his 70s, the energetic Mr. Duboeuf has been the most well known producer of Beaujolais and one of the world’s most creative wine marketers for decades. It was a real delight to hear his thoughts on the latest vintage at the luncheon that followed the tasting.

Millions of Americans Enjoying Vegetarian Fare

Pasta Ingredients.jpg

There are now 7.3 million Americans who maintain a vegetarian-based diet according to a study published by Vegetarian Times. About 1 million of those people are vegans who refrain from eating animal products altogether. It may be surprising that 22.8 million people say they largely follow a vegetarian-inclined diet.

The rising mountain of evidence that a plant-based diet, rich in fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts, and whole grains is far more healthy than a diet heavily laden with animal fats has probably had a significant effect on the country’s eating habits. Environmental and food safety concerns, and horrific reports on the suffering of animals caught in the processes of industrial farming have certainly had their effects as well.

Genetic Modification Reduces Crop Yields

Contrary to repeated claims that turning to genetically modified crops will be necessary to solve the world’s growing food crisis, a major study conducted at the University of Kansas has found that the controversial technology actually reduces crop yields.

Though the study has received little attention in the U.S. media, The Independent of London reports that University's researchers found that genetically modified soya produces about 10% less food than its conventional equivalent.

According to The Independent:

Professor Barney Gordon, of the University's Department of Agronomy, said he started the research – reported in the journal Better Crops – because many farmers who had changed over to the GM crop had "noticed that yields are not as high as expected even under optimal conditions". He added: "People were asking the question 'how come I don't get as high a yield as I used to?'"

The results of the University of Kansas study supports previous findings. Earlier research at the University of Nebraska found that a GM soya produced 6% less than its closest conventional relative, and 11% less than the best non-GM soya available. The total U.S. cotton crop declined even as GM technology took over.

Cereals Marketed to Children are Poor in Nutrition

The breakfast cereals that are marketed specifically to children are not as healthy as those developed for adults. That is the conclusion of a new study published in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association.

The researchers looked at 161 cereals between January and February of 2006. They classified 46% of those cereals as being marketed to children. For example, if the packaging contained a licensed character or contained an activity directed at children, the cereal was deemed to be marketed to children.

The authors of the study wrote that, “Compared to nonchildren’s cereals, children’s cereals were denser in energy, sugar, and sodium, but were less dense in fiber and protein.” They also found that, “The majority of children’s cereals (66%) failed to meet national nutrition standards.

Cereal & Bananas for Breakfast Leads to Baby Boys

Scientists at Britain’s Oxford and Exeter universities have concluded that a mother's eating habits around the time of conception can influence the sex of her baby. It seems women who eat high calorie diets are more likely to give birth to a male child than women on restricted diets.

An article in the Guardian quotes Fiona Mathews, a specialist in mammalian biology at Exeter University, who led the research, as saying:

We were able to confirm the old wives' tale that eating bananas and so having a high potassium intake was associated with having a boy, as was a high sodium intake. But the old tale about drinking a lot of milk to have a girl doesn't seem to hold up. In fact, more calcium meant they were again more likely to have a boy.

Healthy eating

Seafood has long been known as a healthy eating option, but do you know why? Seafood not only tastes great, it’s nutritious, convenient and versatile.

The National Heart Foundation recommends that fish be consumed at least twice a week for cardiovascular benefit, such as lowering blood cholesterol levels.

Seafood is a high nutrient, low calorie food, one that is lean in fat but rich in protein.

Omega-3 fatty acids

Seafood is the richest and best natural source of an essential dietary oil called Long Chain Omega 3; essential because our bodies cannot function properly without it, but cannot manufacture it, so it must be obtained from the food we eat, especially finfish (the fatty tissue of finfish) but also crustaceans and shell fish.

Share your food

Enjoy the spirit of giving by sharing your food with your friends or with someone in need of food. Think about this when you are overeating. Overeating is nothing but a waste of precious food. Your body does not need all that food. So why overeat? Think about people who are not privileged and share your food with them.

The spirit of giving can help you in more ways than one. Human beings are all part of a single chain. Helping others will earn you their good wishes and the more good wishes you have the more easily you will achieve what you want. This includes losing body weight.

Don't skip breakfast, eat it as early as possible

Eat your breakfast as early as you can in the morning. This will give an early kick start to your body's metabolism. But no matter what you do, do not skip breakfast. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and a healthy breakfast ensures a healthy lifestyle. Skipping your breakfast ruins your body's metabolism which can actually result in your body gaining more weight.

Eating regularly every morning can slowly improve your body's metabolism which will help you lose weight in the long run. A healthy breakfast also ensures that you do not get involved in binge eating in the later part of the day.

Snack healthy and snack yourself between meals

Don't leave your stomach empty for a long period. If you leave your stomach empty chances are that you might overeat during meals (even unknowingly). So snack yourself between meals but make sure you snack healthy.

Snacks do not necessarily mean fried chips, bread, crackers or burgers. Snack healthy with salads, whole fruits, unsalted nuts (avoid peanuts and cashews), dry fruits like dates, puffed rice, homemade popcorns (avoid pre-packaged popcorn), lean meats and whole grain foods. Sunflower or pumpkin seeds are also great snacks. You can chew them all the time and still stay safe of additional calorie intake.

Tip#6: So tip number six for health eating is to snack healthy and not to leave your stomach empty for a long period of time so you can avoid overeating during meals.

Drink Plenty of Water and Not Soda

Cut down on soda and replace soda with chilled water. Soda and fizzy drinks do more harm to your system than you can ever imagine. So stop taking them today or at-least cut down on them. This applies to diet soda or drinks as well. The fact is that diet drinks are just a marketing gimmick and are no better than the ordinary ones.

Replace soda with chilled water and drink plenty of it. I am not asking you to over drink too much water at the same time. Drink water consciously throughout the day. How about half a liter of water every hour?

Drinking enough water at proper intervals will help your body burn more calories and detox. Going to the restroom often is also a great exercise!

Lukewarm water is even better that chilled water but I don't want to push you to the edge

Discover How You And Your Loved Ones Can Walk Away From Swine Flu Unscathed.

Dear Friend,

I’m sure you are aware of this danger called the Swine Flu. Is it just a bunch of HYPE or is there something more to this? Some are saying it is reaching pandemic levels and there is no stopping it.

Who knows what tomorrow brings, but there are some simple things you can do to protect yourself and your family.

What makes the Swine Flu different from the regular Flu?

I was in San Diego taking a flight back to Virginia when I heard about this thing called Swine Flu. Some would say California was ground zero for this outbreak in the US. I didn’t think much about it until I arrived home to learn the outbreak was spreading at high speed.

Now I’m not much for mainstream media hype, but this thing was growing like crazy. The H1N1 strain of the influenza virus is actually composed of several strains including swine influenza, avian influenza and a human strain of influenza.

This is what has made it so easily transmitted amongst humans!

This is something of a perfect storm when it comes to transmittable viruses. The fact there is a strain of human influenza makes this virus easily transmittable between humans.

The deadly strain in this virus is not the human strain or even the swine strain of influenza but in fact the avian strain of influenza. This is better known as the bird flu.

We have been told by the health experts and other leaders in our country that transmission of the swine flu to humans was highly unlikely. I am sure they had good intentions but this goes to show that you have to take your family’s safety serious and not rely on the words of these experts. Remember how long it took the Government to get aid to victims in New Orleans?

I guess they were wrong.

Many of those so called experts are now backtracking on what was previously stated and in the process they are trying to cover up the fact that they have no idea what is going on. They were so sure we had nothing to fear and now look at where we are.

I live about 45 minutes from where 2 people are reported to have the swine flu. For something that started last week in California to make it to the other side of the country and around the world in under week is pretty disturbing.

Swine Flu is spreading FAST.

Bottom line is, we know they won't come clean. They seldom tell us the truth and they most likely think we can't handle the truth. Do they think it will cause more harm than good? Who knows???

We have to be cautious at every turn. We have to be able to identify a bad situation and more importantly how to react. The proper reaction to a bad situation is key to surviving this pandemic.

As an ex Navy Sailor, I know what it is like to train and prepare for the worse. We did it every day and it saves lives. Sure we don't like living in a state of fear but we must wake up to the realities around us. When disaster strikes are you going to be prepared or are you gonna be one of the statistics?

With regards to blood pressure:

sing grape seed oil has been purported to be beneficial for lower blood pressure. This is inexpensive and can be found in the oil isle at the grocery store. Grape seed oil supplements however are not inexpensive.

Salt has been unfairly accused of being bad for you and many people avoid salt, even those with normal blood pressure. The fact is that salt is necessary in some amount to sustain life. While it is true that the American diet is typically abusive with salt intake, largely from fast food and prepared foods, once a healthy lifestyle is assumed, normal salt use is necessary. I recommend the use of sea salt as it contains several minerals that are beneficial for overall health as well.

With regards to cholesterol:

l:

Scopelliti healthy eatingCholesterol lowering drugs have become the new kick in America, with more people taking these drugs than not. Recently, some of these drugs were removed from the market as they had no demonstrable effect on lowering heart disease, and had demonstrable effect on causing cancer. In my opinion, and others like me, cholesterol is not the bad guy in the first place. Keep in mind that cholesterol is a necessity for survival. Also keep in mind that your body will manufacture far more cholesterol than you would typically consume on a normal diet. Eggs have gotten a bad rap for years being a terrible food because of the cholesterol content. Well, first off, only the yolk contains cholesterol, so if you are really concerned, you can toss out the yolk and eat the white. Secondly, there is a compound in eggs, (lecithin), which prevents much of the cholesterol in the yolk from elevating your cholesterol. Eggs are best consumed either raw or poached, as the high heat of a frying pan can chemically alter their structure

With regards to Type II diabetes, (adult onset) and gestational diabetes, (diabetes associated with pregnancy):

Reduce carbohydrate intake altogether. Cakes, candy, soda beverages, anything containing sugar, must be eliminated altogether. Fruits and fruit drinks should be avoided as they are similar in affect on your blood sugar level. Simple starches such as white bread, white rice, potatoes, corn and yellow vegetables should also be avoided as they also quickly raise blood sugar levels. If you are going to eat fruits, sprinkle cinnamon on them which helps retard blood sugar elevation. More complex carbohydrates such as long grain brown rice, whole wheat bread, etc., are better forms of carbohydrates, but still must be eaten judiciously as they still convert to sugar easily.

Scopelliti healthy eating2. Increase protein and fat consumption. These have the best ability to lower blood sugar levels. Protein foods include meat and fish and eggs. Fats, meaning "healthy fats", include almonds, walnuts, avocados, (excellent choice for diabetics and very high in fiber). Low quality fats include bacon, fast foods, processed meats, butter, etc.

3. Find out your ideal weight for your height. You can find this out from your doctor, on the Internet, or from textbooks. If you are more than ten pounds overweight you are at risk of type II diabetes.

Healthy Eating, Diet and Nutrition

So what is the answer to the commonly asked question, "how do I loose weight?". Well, quite often, the answer to this question is eating right in the first place. As most Americans are nutritionally comprised and obese from eating vast quantities of the wrong foods and little to none of the good ones, here are some valuable suggestions for eating right, taking excess weight off, lowering blood pressure and getting rid of type II diabetes, which, if you did not already know, is caused simply by being overweight.

1. Reduce portion size. Most Americans eat excessively large portions of food, often actually to the point of discomfort. Eating excessively leaves all of the calories above what is needed to be stored as fat.

2. Eat larger meals earlier in the day, smaller ones later in the day. The last meal should be several hours before bedtime so as not to go to bed with food in the stomach, to be stored as fat.

3. Eat Breakfast! This is the most important meal of the day. Skipping breakfast over the long course will cause you to store fat by burning less calories as your body goes into a calorie preservation mode as if preparing for a famine

One Response to “Food for the brain”

Interesting and helpful meal tip… I like to make a variety of veggie soups with an organic chicken base are very helpful in keeping your energy peaked throughout the rest of the day after lunch… plus a piece of fruit like peach, apple, banana, orange, grapes. I throw a large variety of veggies together to make a nice big bulk of soup that lasts about a week and a half, sometimes longer. This is a great way to learn all of the different veggies out there and how they taste raw alone while you are cutting them up and while you are cooking them with other veggies

Food for the brain

We are all pretty much aware about the valuable effects exercise has on our bodies. Healthy and fit, what more can you ask for, however are you paying enough attention to all of your body? Recently I read an article that made me realize the brain does not get as much attention as the rest of the body until much later in our lives.

Keeping your brain fit means exercising your memory, constantly keeping yourself sharp and on schedule. What many do not know is that what we eat effects our brain as much as the rest of the body. If you are someone who likes to indulge in guilty pleasures at all times, most of the time without even realizing it, it might have tremendous effects on your brain.

I will not list the foods that are bad, all I will mention is; sugar (even artificial sweeteners), meats rich in fat, junk food, trans fats, candy, soda, all the foods we basically love to adore, can make your brain function at a slower and more sluggish pace. If you are feeling drained and not thinking as sharply as normally, take a moment to look at what you eat.

Choosing Your Antioxidant | Multi-Vitamin

The most common antioxidant multi vitamin supplements are a combination of vitamins A, E, C and some minerals like zinc and selenium; moreover, the products are often enriched with CoQ10 and lutein for instance. Antioxidant multi vitamin products are available in a variety of forms, either capsules, tablets or syrup, and it is entirely up to the consumer’s choice to decide which is the variant he or she finds easier to administrate. Most specialists believe that regardless of the health status, antioxidant multi vitamin intake is necessary after a certain age, in order to prevent and slow the decay processes at the tissue levels.

By the direct action on the free radicals resulted in the cells after the oxidation process, antioxidant multi vitamin supplements ensure a proper functionality of the skin and the organs, prolonging the life extent of the cells. Though vitamins A and E are usually associated with anti-wrinkle cosmetic products, their benefits are a lot wider and cover almost all the body functions as a whole

Vitamin B-12

Feeling Tired? Find out how Vitamin B-12 may be able to help you. Since the vitamin B complex is probably the most important group of vitamins in nature, the elements here included are also some of the most frequently found in daily meals. Vitamin B12, for instance, is taken from dairy products, eggs and meat; yet, research has revealed that it is also present in high quantities in certain seaweeds like spirulina.

What is the role of vitamin B12 in the body? It suffices to say that this element containing cobalt is essential for the synthesis of blood cells and the proper functioning of the nervous system. Thus, a person who suffers from a vitamin B12 anemia is exposed to the degeneration of the nerve fiber.

Weight Lifting Supplements

Although the widely shared opinion is that no significant muscle gain can be achieved without weightlifting supplements, this is not always true. The food we eat contains natural ingredients that have a very serious impact on a bodybuilding program. What you may not know is that certain foods can boost up muscle growth by triggering the mechanisms of biological chemical secretions. But, to get back to the story of weightlifting supplements, they are divided into natural and synthetic products. Some are safe, some are dangerous, some are useful and others totally inefficient; only a careful selection can keep you healthy and trouble-free when administrating such products.

Natural weightlifting supplements are sometimes hard to get if we think about the multitude of so-called natural products that do not carry FDA approval. Choosing on recommendation, this is one very safe way of getting something of real quality and tested results. A coach or a health care provider can be a great source of information, because such professionals can provide information about the principles that rule bodybuilding nutrition at its best. Many weightlifting supplements contain protein, because it is known to increase muscle mass,

Angiogram of Healthy Heart

The picture of health, an angiogram of a human heart shows blood vessels in sharp detail. To take an angiogram, or arteriogram x-ray, doctors must first inject the patient with a special opaque dye that allows a clear view of the heart's blood vessels, including the large left and right coronary arteries. Narrowed arteries indicate the presence of coronary artery disease. Blockages of either of the coronary arteries could lead to a heart attack. Such x-rays help doctors determine a course of treatment.
